The developer of the "BellyChair" Marco Del Curto was at the end of his sporting career, his diagnosis: scoliosis and associated severe back pain. So he trained as an architectural draughtsman at a young age. Here he got used, rather intuitively, to a special working position, which should make it easier for him to work on the large drawing boards. However, Marco Del Curto no longer suffered from back pain or any other ailments. Del Curto attributed this to his adventurous working posture at the drawing board. For this he turned a chair and used it in reverse. This made his work easier – and obviously strengthened his back muscles, which then built up a supporting structure. However, many years were to pass before he came up with the idea of developing a product from his very specific experiences. Something completely new: a sports chair that enabled him to work and at the same time train his back muscles just by being in the chair.
